Job Overview
We are searching for a Senior Income Tax Accountant to support the Corporate Tax Manager with the company’s tax compliance and reporting activities across all entities. This role will be responsible for the day-to-day preparation of tax related filings and reports, including federal, state, and local income tax returns. Key responsibilities also include supporting the preparation of the income tax provision, coordinating with the legal department on annual reporting requirements, and assisting with tax matters related to mergers and acquisitions. The ideal candidate is a well‑rounded tax professional who works independently, proactively identifies issues, and effectively manages deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Manages and coordinate the income tax compliance process in partnership with external tax service providers, including federal, state, local, and international filings, estimated payments, and extensions for the Company and its subsidiaries.
- Supports the Corporate Tax Manager with preparation and review of income tax provisions under ASC 740, including data collection, analysis, and documentation.
- Gathers, prepares, and maintains schedules supporting book‑to‑tax adjustments (M‑1s) and other information required for income tax return preparation.
- Serves as a key point of contact for responding to tax authority inquiries and assisting with income tax audits and examinations.
- Monitors changes in U.S. tax laws and compliance requirements and assess potential impacts to the organization.
- Collaborates with Accounting and Finance teams to ensure accurate tax reporting and alignment with financial records.
- Identifies and implements opportunities to improve, streamline, and automate tax processes and controls.
- Assists with special projects and ad hoc initiatives related to tax planning, compliance, and process improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or taxation required
- CPA/CPA Candidate
- Minimum 3-4 years in tax compliance and reporting roles
- Experience with ASC 740/income tax provisions
- Prior public accounting experience
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and levels of the organization
- Ability to explain complex state and local tax concepts clearly to both financial and non‑financial stakeholders
- Strong tax research skills with the ability to communicate findings clearly, concisely, and professionally
- Working knowledge of tax accounting principles, including preparation of journal entries
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
- Solid understanding of consolidated corporate tax rules
- Experience identifying and reporting book‑to‑tax differences
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and tax provision software (OneSource Tax Provision preferred)
- Results‑driven professional with a strong sense of ownership and accountability
- High attention to detail and strong written and verbal communication skills
- Self‑motivated and able to thrive in a fast‑paced, collaborative environment
